“Batang Mansisibak Reaction Paper”

Most of the Filipino children work at their early age due to poverty. These children will be find everywhere in a street, in the bays and in a dump.

A documentary show, Sine Totoo featured the life of these children and named it “Batang Mansisibak”. In this show, I really want the government to do something to solve this kind of problem.

The children who lived near in the Manila Bay, their everyday work is to collect trash from the dark, dirty bay. My first impression for that was very disgusting. The children swam in a bay without any clothes to wear. When they swam in a dirty bay without any clothes, they are much prone to several diseases. And after that the trash that gathered will sell it in a junk shop to earn money. Their whole salary for that is just only P 12.00. Then I think that amount was not enough payment for their job.

Jose Rizal said that the youth is the hope of our country but how they can be our hope if they don’t have proper education, they can’t eat right and they are not healthy. Their parents should give their needs together with the aid of the government. These children should be in school and they should be always healthy and they should eat healthy foods they needed to be the hope of our country.

I hope that Sine Totoo can encourage the government to start the change in our country. And they can provide the needs of the country. I also dream for a better bright future of our new generations.

“Batang Kalabaw Reaction Paper”

Philippine is one of the poorest country in Asia. It has lots of people who were suffering to poverty and hunger. Sine Totoo, a documentary movie, shows the one problem in Philippines and they entitled it “Batang Kalabaw”. I hope this served as an eye opener for the government to see what is occurring in impoverished in the world we live.

When I watched this documentary movie, my heart fills with sympathy and I was so pitiful to the children. The children lived in very rural areas in country in a mountainous place, which they did tough works to be able to give their family needs. In that place, instead the parents should work for them the children are the one who work for their family. Then I think their parent wasn’t responsible for not doing their roles in their family.

Everyday the children always climb the mountain and carry heavy loads. They walk four hours to reach the mountain without any slippers to wear and a few foods that can not satisfies their hungry tummy. When they reach the mountain, the children start to carry a “2by2” or “2by4” thick-wide pieces of wood in their shoulders and they carry it down the mountain. When I’m watching that part, I cannot control my self to be very pitiful for them. Even though I’m 13 years old, I can not take those things which they were doing. Their salary for carrying one wood is only P 1.50 and their bosses will deduct their salary for just a simple stain in the woods. It was so very unfair. They earn only P 12.00 for their whole day labor. And if I were the boss of them , I’m going to pay them P 50.00 so they can buy their foods.

These children should not be in mountain carrying heavy loads, they should be in school and their parents should be the one who work and give their basic needs. I can say that their parents are irresponsible because they let their children to do those tough things.

I realized that I am one of the lucky children in this country because I’m not doing such as hard things like what other children did. I can have the things that I want, I can study in a private school and I can eat three meals everyday. We should be thankful for what God has given to us even if it is small things.

So we need to be compassionate to others and share what we have so they can feel the presence of the Lord.

"TRIAL AND DEATH OF BONIFACIO AND BROTHER"

“Trial and Death of Bonifacio Brothers”

Aguinaldo become the president of Tenejeros Convention while Andres Bonifacio become the Director of Interior. Lots of katipunero are curious on what was the result of election. Bonifacio didn’t accept the result. So he established a revolutionary government separate from Tenejeros Convention.

Aguinaldo know what Bonifacio did so he ordered to arrest Bonifacio and his brother that results to Battle of Limbon. And Col. Agapito Bonzon arrest them.

Bonifacio brothers brought on the court on April 29 1897. Andres Bonifacio and his brither were found guilty so they were sentenced to death.

Aguinaldo changed the death sentenced to life imprisonment. But his chief adviser tell it was unfair to everyone. So Aguinaldo returned the sentenced.

On May 10 1897 Bonifacio and his brother bring to Mount Buntis near Maragondon. And Bonifacio and Procopio was shot and buried in a shallow grave .

"THE COLLABORATIONOF FILIPINO AND AMERICAN"

“The Collaboration of Filipino and American”

Because of the Spanish – American war the Americans and Filipinos collaborate. The Spaniards gave the money to the Filipinos . Isabelo Artacho wanted the 400, 000 pesos to give equally to the Katipuneros. But Aguinaldo used the money to buy superior military weapons. And he want to join the Spanish – American War.

Aguinaldo talk to Howard Bray and they talk on April 23 1898. E. Spencer Pratt’s was an American Consul in Hong Kong. He encouraged Aguinaldo that the American can help them to buy superior military weapons. And Pratt recommend Rouseville Wildman . Aguinaldo give 50,000 pesos and 67,000 pesos for the purchase of military weapons. The 50,000 pesos was used but the other was not.

Because of this the Filipino assembled a Junta in Hong Kong on May 4 , 1898.They discussed about the events in the Philippines. Felipe Agoncillo headed the Junta in Hong Kong.

And the Junta decide that Aguinaldo should return to the Philippines to lead revolt against the Spaniards.

This what happened in the Collaboration of Filipino and American. The Americans goal is to remorse the bombing of US Battleship Maine over the Spaniards . And the Filipinos goal why they join, was to fight for the freedom of the Philippines.

"TEACHINGS OF KATIPUNAN"

“The Teachings of Katipunan”
The teachings of Katipunan was also known as “Kartilla”. The Kartilla was created by Emilio Jacinto. It has thirteen rules.

I. A life not devoted to a worthy cause is like a tree without leaves.

-To live a good life is to live a good cause .

But if you live in a bad life is to live in a bad cause.
II. A good deeds that was not done sincerely is not considered a virtue.
- Always do your works sincerely.
III. Real virtue lies not only in charity and love of neighbor, but also in the purity of one’s thoughts , words and actions.
-A real virtue based in thoughts,words, and actions.
IV. All men are equal, regardless of race , color and culture.
-All people must be treated fairly.
V. A wise man values abstinence over indulgence .
-An intelligent man knows how to value things.
VI. A person with delicadeza knows how to keep his words.
-A man that is ashamed always remain silent.
VII. Never waste time opportunities that passed by may come again, but time passed can never be brought back .
-The time is gold . You can’t bring back the past.
VIII. Defend the oppressed and fight the oppressor.
-Do not allow anyone to be abused.
IX. An intelligent person exercises prudence in his words , and knows how to keep secrets.
-An intelligent person is careful on what he says.
X. A man serves as a model to his wife and children; thus, the leader who is headed in the wrong direction also leads his followers astray.
-A good leader directs his followers in a straight path.
XI. Do not look at woman as a source of pleasure, but as partner in one’s joys and sorrows; remember your mother who brought you up since you were a baby.
-A woman must be cherished.
XII. What do not want done unto your own wife , daughter ,and sister ,do not do unto the wife , daughter and sister of others.
-Don’t do to others what you don’t want to do to you and your family.

XIII. A person’s worth does not depend on being a king, priest or having a high position in the society nor in the shape of one’s nose or color of one’s skin . It is found in his goodness, honor and pure intentions; in those who do not abuse nor allow themselves to be abused; and in those who know concern and love from one’s country.
- A worth of a man doesn’t based on his state.

“CRY OF BALINTAWAK”

The cry of Balintawak is also known as “Cry of Pugad Lawin”.

The cry of Pugad Lawin started when the Spaniards arrested the Katipuneros. So , the katipunero held a meeting at Pugad Lawin. They tore their cedulas and they shouted “Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! Mabuhay ang Kalayaan!”. The Cry of Pugad Lawin symbolize to revolt against the Spaniards.But the fighting stopped and the Governor General declared a martial law in those eight provinces.

When Governor General Basilio Agustin declared a martial law , lots of Filipinos revolts to different part of the country. Because of this the Filipino are very mad and they attacked the Spanish authority. And it result to a battle.

The revolution happened on 1896.

THE RESULT OF PRPOPAGANDA MOVEMENT

After the three priest died , the Filipinos started to revolt to the Spaniards. The Filipinos started to built a group . One of this was the “ Propaganda movement”.

The propaganda movement was composed by Filipinos illustrados. They fought the Spaniards through literacy. It is crusade for reforms in the Philippines. The propaganda movement was established in Spain, Madrid. The members of propaganda was called “propagandists or reformist”. And it was created on 1872.

The propaganda movements do lots of things. They have lots of goals to succeed. The have ten main goals. It includes the things that related to government , education , jobs and freedom.

The leader of propaganda movement was Jose Rizal. Jose Rizal and his men wrote a lots of stories relating to the abusement of the Spaniards to the Filipinos . When Jose Rizal was exiled in Dapitan the propaganda movement decreases its power.

The propaganda movement was considered as a failure . They failed because they don’t have managed their movement . They didn’t built a government . And they don’t have a president who will guide them what to do. If they don’t have leaders they’re organization will easily be fail. On of the reason why it failed because the propagandist wanted to take over the position that become a leader of propaganda movement. And because of the exile of Jose Rizal in Dapitan the reformist weakened their hope to continue fighting to the Spaniards. So the katipunan continued what Jose Rizal started.
