“The Teachings of Katipunan”
The teachings of Katipunan was also known as “Kartilla”. The Kartilla was created by Emilio Jacinto. It has thirteen rules.
I. A life not devoted to a worthy cause is like a tree without leaves.

I. A life not devoted to a worthy cause is like a tree without leaves.
-To live a good life is to live a good cause .
But if you live in a bad life is to live in a bad cause.
II. A good deeds that was not done sincerely is not considered a virtue.
- Always do your works sincerely.
III. Real virtue lies not only in charity and love of neighbor, but also in the purity of one’s thoughts , words and actions.
-A real virtue based in thoughts,words, and actions.
IV. All men are equal, regardless of race , color and culture.
-All people must be treated fairly.
V. A wise man values abstinence over indulgence .
-An intelligent man knows how to value things.
VI. A person with delicadeza knows how to keep his words.
-A man that is ashamed always remain silent.
VII. Never waste time opportunities that passed by may come again, but time passed can never be brought back .
-The time is gold . You can’t bring back the past.
VIII. Defend the oppressed and fight the oppressor.
-Do not allow anyone to be abused.
IX. An intelligent person exercises prudence in his words , and knows how to keep secrets.
-An intelligent person is careful on what he says.
X. A man serves as a model to his wife and children; thus, the leader who is headed in the wrong direction also leads his followers astray.
-A good leader directs his followers in a straight path.
XI. Do not look at woman as a source of pleasure, but as partner in one’s joys and sorrows; remember your mother who brought you up since you were a baby.
-A woman must be cherished.
XII. What do not want done unto your own wife , daughter ,and sister ,do not do unto the wife , daughter and sister of others.
-Don’t do to others what you don’t want to do to you and your family.
XIII. A person’s worth does not depend on being a king, priest or having a high position in the society nor in the shape of one’s nose or color of one’s skin . It is found in his goodness, honor and pure intentions; in those who do not abuse nor allow themselves to be abused; and in those who know concern and love from one’s country.
